FABRICated Tales
In a world where flawlessness is a key word for many, there are
instances  which fail the test to redefine the paradigm of perfection.
The stretch of perfection in a wrinkle free world is devoid of creases but yet they appear.  Fabricated tales narrates this story which is both impeccable and beautiful.
I wanted to make the whole structure in one piece.  the table where  a computer can be installed, files can be kept. The person can put the whole body wight while sitting or standing.  Any occurance of mishap or collapse should be out of question. In short, weight management and balance was two part which can be taken care of. Secondly the office maintains a directory to keep record of visitors with their detail with signature. Keeping in mind these two things, while consruction of the piece I used two metal rods inside to bind all the pieces and then stuck them together. It gives extra bonding and strength to the table that one can stand on it. Also a exuded plate was created on top of the table to maintain space between the person and the table. It helps to avoid any kind of shoe dent on the front of the table.
I did it for an office space for a property developer’s office in Mumbai. The client is very experimental and wanted something unique as a feature point at the entrance of his boutique office.
The architect approached me for this work and asked me to commission a piece of sculpture which should b e functional.  He wanted it in the form of reception table where one can do some administrative job and attend the visitor as well.
Since the location is such that once you open the door to enter the office, 1st thing  you see it the piece I will propose. Hence, I decided to make it in such a way that it generates curiosity and the visitor should get an urge to see it closely to touch it, to feel it. I decided to give it a tactile feel.
I took the reference of the folds of the fabric and the journey of the reception sculpted table began.
The waves of an ocean and the spontaneous folds of a fabric both are imperfect, but it becomes noticeable owing to the flaw. The wall mural aptly titled “Perfectly Imperfect” attempts to arrest the beauty that lies in that involuntary moment.
After repeated attempts to incorporate the essence of sustainability in an artistic creation, I finally chose cardboard. The idea now was also to elevate its status in the hierarchy of bespoke materials,
utilized to create art.
he positioning of the artwork is such that you immediately lay eyes on it, as soon as you enter the office. Therefore I decided to make it in such a way that it developes curiosity. An immediate urge to have a sensational feeling to interact with it. Hence, I decided to give it a tactile feel.
The concept of Wabi Sabi implies that there is beauty within the imperfection. I derived my inspiration from the crumpled bed sheet in my bedroom. It gives me a blissful feeling of embracing my imperfection.
